Abstract:
This article describes multiple drama therapy crisis intervention groups in Israel after the continious attacks on the israelian city of Kiryat Shmona in 1996. It gives a brief literature overview on drama therapy as crisis intervention and then explores the planning, structure and and execution of the drama therapy groups. The article also provides case vignettes from some groups as well as a discussion of using drama therapy after community-based disasters.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine changes in levels of anger associated with a therapeutic theatre project. The population consisted of mentally disordered patients in a maximum security hospital, all of whom had a history of major violence. The subjects were being treated on a ward that specializes in psychotherapeutic interventions. Twelve young adult male patients, defined by structured interview for personality disorder and clinical diagnosis for mental illness, participated in a week‐long dramatherapy project. They were evaluated using self‐report questionnaires both before and after the week, as well as at three‐month follow‐up. Levels of anger significantly reduced from before to after the theatre week. This improvement was maintained at three???month follow‐up. There was an associated increase in the frequency of attempts to control the expression of anger. It is concluded that a dramatherapy project within a psychotherapeutic environment may be an effective therapeutic modality for reducing anger levels in young mentally disordered offenders.

Abstract:
In this case-study, a pre-schooler identifies covert sexual themes in the video versions of traditional children’s fairy tales. The child uses the tales in dramatic forms as a distancing technique to tell her therapist about the traumatic events of her past. By telling stories and creating dramas based on this material the child was able to find both an appropriate context and a process to discuss her concerns with her therapist and learn new ways of relating to her abuse.

Abstract:
When seeking answers to the issues surrounding juvenile justice, one sees that there is never one easy quick-fix solution or one easily identifiable section of the community that is to blame for its faults. The issue is complex and affects us all in many different ways. The scripting and performing of “Wicked” was one opportunity for young people in the area to have their chance to sift through some of the effects that juvenile crime has had on their lives and to make sense of them. Individually, their stories provide few opportunities for personal reflection, but when placed together side by side, they help to give a sense of the larger effects that actions have had, to see how widespread the problem really is and to help lay the blame more evenly across the community in a way that encourages collective action. The wisdom and courage shown by the play's creators to tackle this task openly and honestly were extraordinary to say the least.
